Ashurst Wood School is fully committed to promoting children’s rights, notably their right to be protected from harm, abuse and exploitation. The school expects all parents/carers, staff, and volunteers to share this commitment.
This commitment includes accepting a responsibility for the protection of children and ensuring that all concerns about a child’s safety or well-being are shared with the appropriate personnel- in most cases this will be the child’s classteacher or the Headteacher.
Ashurst Wood School has a Child Protection Policy and procedures in place. Parents and carers are welcome to read the Policy on request or through our website. This policy works within the Procedures and Guidelines as set down by the West Sussex Local Safeguarding Children Board.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.
